Family Reunion

Yesterday morning I was thrilled to photograph a large family gathering. It was to celebrate the 70th birthday of the grandparents. We set everything up in the huge church where the grandfather preaches. I love photographing in that church because of all the cool beams in the rafters.

Father/Daughter Dance

Last friday we photographed a father/daughter dance for the local Indian Princesses. It was a total blast and we recognized a few girls from our kids' school, which was pretty cool. They were excited and talked to our kids about it on Tuesday. It went much faster than we expected so we got to go out for coffee afterwards!

Sweetheart Dance

Our church had their annual Sweetheart Dance last Sunday evening. For the past few years we've been taking photos of the couples, printing them on the spot and putting them in a folder. Anyway, this year we decided not to take the formal pictures (like prom pictures) and just go and have fun. Of course, I took pictures anyway, and had a lot of fun not being tied to the camera/lights/tripod/printer, etc.

There's a slideshow of the event (isn't there always?).

Synchronized Swimming

I was at a synchronized swimming meet on Saturday and Sunday to take pictures of the swimmers in their fancy suits and headpieces. It ended up being pretty slow until the end, but that was OK because people ended up wanting a lot of buttons and statuettes and prints.

When we first did this event a couple years ago I was completely amazed at the time and detail that goes into the suits. It seems a shame that they're mostly under water when they're doing their routine. But, I suppose that's why I'm there. To help them remember their suits that they put together. Our neighbor is in the local club, the Columbus Coralinas. Like little Coral. That's how we got the first event. Sorry, no pictures from this event -- no model releases.

The Gary Fong Method

Sample Album Page
I attended Gary Fong's seminar last Monday evening about a better way to photograph weddings. What's so cool about it is that it really makes for better memories of your day, and the wedding albums are amazing because of it. We'll have more information on our Web site shortly and you can read all about it.

What I'm excited about is that we can translate this method to our portrait customers, too. Especially our Seniors. I can't wait to show you how cool this is.

Dalton at 4 months

Dalton came back last week for his 3 month portraits (about a month behind) and, Wow!, he's grown a lot. The slideshow brought many tears. And not just from his parents. It ended up being a whole family portrait session. The show starts out with his older brother, so that's a bit confusing. Dalton and the rest of the family are in there, too.

If you want to see Dalton's newborn slideshow it jumps to the latest one after it's done.
